WHAT IS YOUNG PERFORMERS COMPANY?
Young Performers Company is Main Stage Youth Division's school year musical theatre education program. Performers with or without prior experience may audition for performance groups corresponding to their age, skill level, scheduling preferences and personal goals. The mission of the program is to provide performance training to Humboldt County youth through first hand experience of participating in a musical production. Company members have opportunities to perform in either a full length or Family Series musical each fall and spring. As an education program, the production experience is enriched by show specific musical theatre training taught by local and guest teaching artists. Being a part of a production experience also allows students to learn responsibility, flexibility, focus, and teamwork, in a tight knit family environment.
As a performance company, opportunities often extend beyond the production. Our performers regularly perform at community and special events and have also been invited to participate in master classes with industry professionals.
The program is divided into 5 sub groups for various ages, skill sets, and levels of commitment: Pre-Company (Grades K-2), Young Performers Ensemble (Grades 3-6) , and Teen Ensemble (Grades 7-12) hold auditions in both August and January. The resident Young Performers Company (Grades 2-6), and Teen Company (Grades 7-12) are advanced groups that hold auditions in August only. The Young Performers Company year runs September-May.

Thursday, January 5th: North Coast Dance Studios
Grades K-2 4:30-5:30pm Group Placement: Pre-Company
Grades 3-6 5:00-6:00pm Group Placement: Young Performers Ensemble
Grades 7-12 6:15-7:15pm Group Placement: Teen Ensemble
Auditions are easy going, fun, and run similar to a sample class. Students selected for the company groups will be cast in
Spring Family Series production: James and the Giant Peach Jr. May 5th-14th
Families should understand that performers selected for company groups will need to commit to pre-tech &
tech week evening rehearsals the last few weeks leading up to production opening. See the Winter/Spring Audition packet for full details.
Program Tuition: $250
Scholarships available pending fund availability.
