Young Performer Company 2026 Summer Season

krista web 1 .jpg

This year our Young Performers Company program has a wonderful opportunity to integrate Young Performers programming with Main Stage's 2026 Summer of Musicals. Serious performers looking to strengthen individual performance skills and gain experience working with industry professionals are invited to audition for this summer season.   Students will have the opportunity to take classes and workshops from several of the professional performers and creative team members working in Humboldt this summer on Annie and Frozen in Concert. Session will culminate with an in class performance and each student having the opportunity to showcase both an individual song cut, and group work, receiving feedback from the guest artists.

WHO:

  • Elementary and Middle/High School cohorts by audition

  • Current PT members

Program Dates: May 11th-July 2nd. Exact class scheduling for each cohort (elementary and middle/high school) will be available by the end of April. In general we're expecting Monday night "prep" classes May 11th-June 8th and weekday morning classes (between 9am-11am) the weeks of June 15th-19th and June 29th-July 2nd for classes with our visiting artists. Please list any anticipated conflicts during these weeks and we will do our best to schedule your student accordingly.

Program Tuition: $250

Program Structure:

Our main focus will be preparing each student to workshop an audition song cut and monologue individually. We will help students select and rehearse material prior to working with guest artists during our "prep" weeks as well discussing industry rehearsal room expectations. During the June/July weeks students will perform their material and receive feedback individually. We will work with them to continue applying provided feedback throughout the week. During the last week they will have an opportunity to showcase their material once again and receive final feedback. Students will also have the opportunity to learn an audition choreography combo and work on picking up choreography in the room.

AUDITION INFORMATION

  • No audition is required for current PT members.

  •  Space in this program is limited and we may not have space for everyone who auditions.

  • The audition workshop aspect of this summer session will fulfill the PT audition requirement for those interested in joining the program in the 26/27 school year.

  • Self Tape Video Audition (Due 3/21): Students will submit a self tape video, the video should include the following:

  • Performers should slate their name, age, song title, and what it's from Example: "Hi my name is Gretl von Trapp and today i'll be singing Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music"

  • Prepare a musical theatre style song 1-2 minutes in length. Students should sing with a piano accompaniment track. No a cappella singing, please.

  • As a general rule, if you are to not old enough/too old to play the character singing the song right now, it’s not a good choice. This can be flexible within a few years of your actual age . Choose something that shows off your voice and ability to tell a story through song.

  •  Please upload your tape either as an unlisted youtube link or in an accessible Google drive folder. Please share/send to daphnee@mainstagehumboldt.org

  • Please do NOT feel obligated to get a certain backdrop, lighting, sound or camera equipment, etc. As long as we can hear and see you clearly in your tape, you are set!

  • First time doing a self tape and needing assistance? Please reach out to Daphne, daphnee@mainstagehumboldt.org for support with material selection and/or taping logistics!
